There are superb displays and fantastic memorabilia that date from the 18th Century right up to the 1970s, but what else does this marvellous place have to offer
Several staff claim to have heard footsteps overhead on the floorboards when the museum has been empty. A number of other noises have been heard and some claim of being touched.
The shop alarm has come on its own having been turned off at the main switch by staff. Dance hall music has been heard in the Royal Room, and figures have been seen.

The Report of The Night's Investigation
Yesterdays World is situated in the heart of Battle town centre. It consists of two houses No 89 and No 90 which now house the museum. It is a maze of reconstructed shops containing memorabilia artefacts of that decade notably from the 18th century up to the 1970’s all situated on five floors.
During daylight or with the lights on, the place is beautifully set and viewing the different displays and shops is educational and enlightening. However, when all the lights are switched off and you are left in darkness, the place takes on a different tone. The manikins stare out at you, the higgledy-piggledy layout of the floors and shops confuses you in which direction you should go and where you have been. But are there ghosts that vacate these two building? And did SouthWest London Paranormal come across any of the reputed ones that have been noted:
The Royalty Room – Apprehension felt by many who enter.
Grocers Display – Two ghosts figures seen. A man wearing a cap and a maid seen in the glass.
Grocers Shop – A jar of malt extract exploded during an investigation by one group.
One of the many stairs – A lady in a long dress seen.
Chemist Shop – A cowled monk seen and when builders were reinavacting this area they felt unease.
Nanny’s Room (Attic Floor) - Sounds of a baby crying and a small boy seen sitting on a bike in one of the displays.
Footsteps on floorboards heard throughout the museum.
SouthWest London Paranormal looked forward to their visit to Yesterdays World, the weather was good and they were warmly greeted by the host Annette and Adele.

Vigil 1: The old building which included the Chemist Shop, The Grocer, The Doll and Toy Shop, Victorian Kitchen, Children’s Playroom.
Vigil 2: Exhibition Centre, Royalty Exhibition, Judges Camera Shop
Vigil 3: Both Teams to revisit areas of interest.Team 1 – Royalty Room
Mac asks Jim if he can feel anything where she was standing as she had a feeling of falling; Jim said he had a headache standing there. Jim asked if anyone was feeling anything, as he was picking up on a young lady who wanted to dance.
We decided to start a séance and placed a K2 meter in the centre of the circle. A K2 meter measures energy and should, unless placed near a electric source remain on one green light, if the energy increases the light scan go in to the red.
After a short time the lights started flashing up in to the red. Jane said it felt like someone breathing down her neck. We again checked to see if there was an energy source that could be making the lights on the K2 meter flash, is was not continuous, but there was nothing. We checked for mobiles even the digital recorder was moved, but nothing set it off that we could account for.
We knew from a previous visit, of a male spirit that was known to like females with long hair. Jane said someone was now pulling her hair, Jim called out asking if it was him, the lights again started to flash.
Mac tries a whistle to see if she gets a response, but nothing. Jim again picks up on the female who wants to dance, she is happy dancing. There were noises that we could not account for are heard. Mac believes she heard a whistle in response to hers; footsteps are heard by some of the team, but unaware of where they were coming from.
We move to another part of the room and start another séance Jim starts to go in to trance and wants to dance, a tapping is heard.
Mac asks how many spirits are there, but a different voice answers – two.
Mac asks “You don’t want us here do you?” Answer: “No”
Question: “What’s your name?” Answer: “Why?”
Question: “Did you die here?” No answer, but Jim has to stop due to the amount of pain he is in; Mac asks if it was due to the male spirit. Jim says he feels he was either hung, for a doing something, or an accident.
He returns to Jim, who appears angry towards Jane, and then he is gone. Jim says he felt that he comes and goes doesn’t like staying in one place for long. Something is said that makes us laugh and the K2 meter goes mad again; there was a feeling that we were upsetting him.
Jim explained that a male spirit has been known to pull peoples hair. The staff, as well as other groups have come across him before, just as Jim had. We wanted something new to happen so we tried calling out again, there were lots of sounds, but nothing to say what was causing it.
Jim says he is trying to stop him breathing, something he had tried before. Jim said he feels that this man would have grabbed the female by the hair pull it back and slitting her throat. Jim has contact with the female again he says she likes the children. Jim says she is part of the building and he gets the letter A, like Anna, Jane says she was getting Analyse.
We now move to the other part of the room where the pews are. Jim starts acting a little strange and clutching his chest, he now starts straightening the pews Mac moves them again to get a reaction only to have him straighten them up again.
Mac asks “Who are you?”
Jim starts to really cough
“Do you live here? “
Jeff asks “Don’t you like women?” Answer: “No”
Question: “What’s your name please?” Answer: “Alfred”
Question: “How old are you?” Answer: “56”
Question: “Did this pain in your chest kill you?” Answer: “Yes”
Jane asks “Why you are still her?”.
Question: “Do you not want to join your loved ones?” There is no more comments from him, Jim says he felt he could have been a caretaker and he may have been connected to the old pews , as the building is new.
The team now try using the rods with crossing the rods for yes
They soon get a reaction as Mac asks “If they are female?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Did you die here?” No Answer
They then get another male spirit come through.
Question: “Did you live here?” Answer: “No”
Question: “Were you in your 50’s?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Are you Alfred?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you point the rods to where you are standing?” They point behind.
Question: “Are you alone in this room?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Is the young lady that’s likes to dance still here? “ No answer
Mac hears talking we are unsure where that was coming from.
Question: “Can you come close to the K 2 meter?”
There is a funny feeling which comes over the room and Jim feels there is yet another change, and calls out to find it’s the one who pulls hair back in the room.
Question: “I am getting the name Antonio is that you?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Did you die here or near here?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Was it because you killed a female?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Did you kill more than 2?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Did you kill more than 10?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Are you talking a load of rubbish?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you do something to one of the females in the room?”
Question: “Are you standing behind Mac?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you push Mac?”
Nothing more happened and Jim split the team it to pairs. However, nothing worth reporting happened and the team stopped for a break.
Team 2 - Main house In the Attic
Strange feelings are put down to the long walk up lots of stairs. Helen picks up on children playing and running around and she calls out, as do other team members. Noises are heard, but this could have been anything as the main house is on the main road.
They decide to try the dowsing rods. Helen calls out asking for any spirit to cross the rods to let them know they are there. What the recorder picks up an unknown male voice saying ‘HELP ME’ this can be heard on EVP 1, there were no male members in Helens team.
During daylight or with the lights on, the place is beautifully set and viewing the different displays and shops is educational and enlightening. However, when all the lights are switched off and you are left in darkness, the place takes on a different tone. They tried calling out again, it took some time but the rods did cross.
Question: “Is this a little boy?” Answer: “Yes” very strong
Question: “Is there a little girl with you?” Answer: “ Yes”
Question: “Are there any older children here?”
Question: “Can you point to where you are?” The rods do move.
Question: “Can you touch someone or make a noise?” Nothing happens so they move to another part of the building.
They split into pairs and call out. They try the dowsing rods and call out again this time the rods cross.
Question: “Are you male?” Nothing
They call out again and they cross.
Question: “Are you angry with us?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you do something to show us?” Nothing
One of the team says their hair was touched.
Question: “Can you tell us, are there more than 2 of you here?”
Question: “Cross the rods if you want us to go” The rods cross
They move again and clicking is heard, but cannot be explained. The team decide to hold a séance and Helen calls out, again nothing. They try the rods again in another part of the building. This time they do get a response.
Question: “Are you a female?” Answer: “Yes”

Team 2 - The Royal Room
Helen calls out. There are noises heard and some think they see something, there is a feeling of someone standing near the door, they call out again. Again they hear a clicking sound, this could have been anything, but they could not find an answer for it. They pick up on someone using the rods.
Question: “Are you female?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Are you happy here?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “When did you pass to spirit, was it the 1900’s?” Answer: “No”A flashing light is seen in the corner and the team ask if it’s the female spirit. Using the rods they continue to ask questions without much response.
Question: “Is there anyone else in here with us?” Noises are heard again that can’t be explained. They call out again with no response. The team notice cold spots in the room.
Unfortunately the rest of the recording was unclear so I was unable to hear enough to report. Helen says that one of the team believed that as they were leaving the room they saw someone standing behind the cabinet.
Downstairs
They notice that now they are downstairs they are able to take photos without them being blurred. Shelia says she feels something is not right here, and they call out again. There is a feeling of something happening here.
The team pick up on a female either a maid or a nanny. There is a feeling that something is not right here that the team cannot explain ,nothing more just a feeling.
Helen asked “Is this outside the house? “
They try again with the rods and call out, this time they get a response and it is a male, but nothing more, it seems that the team keep picking up on spirit, but no one wants to talk.
Team 1 - The House
We try the K2 meter again and the lights start flashing, again we check and there is no reason for the lights to change.
Jim calls out and the K2 meter flashes again. Jim asks for spirit to make it flash trying to get a yes /no response, but nothing happens. We are in the sweet shop and there are strong smells which we put down to the shop, although these are all many years old and sealed.
Jim calls the team for a séance. A noise is heard by Mac and Jim, it sounded like a dress dragging across the floor. A tapping noise is heard, but it could have been anything. We now try one of the other shops, the chemist.
Jim sees what he believes to be a shadow passes by the door; again a tapping noise is heard. Jim comes over feeling funny and faint and has to sit down for a moment. Jane hears a noise, but nothing is picked up and it could have been one of the team. After the team calling out some more, Jim has to leave the room feeling very heavy around the chest. The team move along and try another spot on the top floor.
The team sit and after a while there are feelings felt by some of the team, feelings of being watched, which can often be down to the place you are in, but there was a feeling of pressure there as well. Jane uses the rods which seem to be full of energy; she asks how many spirits are in the room with them, the rods move at 5.
They sit at the far end where Jim calls out and picks up on spirit, there is a young child running back and forth in front of the team.
Jim asks “Is one of those is a child” Answer: “Yes” and the movement is very strong.
Jim asks “Isf there someone on the stairs behind him?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you point the rods to where you are standing?” They point behind Jane and Mac.
Mac calls out asking them to make a sound for us, nothing. Jim goes very cold and Mac asks “Is it the spirit doing it” Answer: “Yes”
Jim asks “Does your name begin with the letter R?” Answer: “ Yes”
Question: “Are you a Robert or Roberto?” No answer.Jim picks up on a female adult who is connected to the children either the mother or nanny. Jim feels there is much concern as the master of the house is not happy with children running around. He is strict and not nice, but Jim thought this would go with the times.
Mac says she can see someone crouched down in front of Jim. Sounds are also coming from where she sees this person. Jim says she is very unhappy, not with us, but the master. Mac asks Jim what does he look like.
Jim sounds very scared as he feels this female and finds it hard to breathe and starts chocking. Jim says he looks horrible, twisted. Mac said that she had picked up on a man who was not very nice earlier, said he looked ugly.
Mac asks “How old are you?” No answer.
Team 1 and Team 2 – Royal Room
They first start with the K2 meter and check everything to make sure they have nothing and there is nothing nearby to affect. However, the K2 meter starts going mad, flashing from one green to red, again they check, moving back checking everything they have, and nothing makes a different. Jim asks about the air conditioning, but is informed it is switched off.
Jim calls out and they flash more. Jim asks if they can make the lights flash red, which it does just. Jim says you don’t like me very much he likes the women with long hair.
“What are you going to do, come and touch someone?” Jim again goes very cold and feels like someone wants to choke him.
Jim starts a séance with all members and calls out. Jim says he thought he saw a shadow moving, but it could have been reflection. Mac asks who is walking around, but none of us are she feels there is someone walking near her. Jim goes in to trance and picks up on the hair puller, he is asked questions by the team and reacts to the question, that he was a murderer and the female here is the one that got away. The K2 flashes like mad and Jim grunts.
Question: “Can you tell me who you are?” Answer: “You know who I am”
Question: “Yes, but can you tell me again?” Answer: “Just told you bitch”
Whilst Jim is under he takes a dislike to Helen and has to be kept from her. Jim gets his guides to move away the nasty spirit and it then goes quiet.
They ask for the spirit to push someone back and forth. After a while Jeff found he felt like he was being pushed forward. Jeff has never had this happen before and is unsure of the whole thing, but for a couple of minutes he is pushed back and forth, forward for yes, back for no.
Mac decides to start calling out “Is it you affecting Jim” Jeff is pushed forward indicating yes.
Question: “Are you male?” Answer: “Yes”
Nothing more is heard from him. They move to the other end of the room and try the rods again. After calling out they get a reaction and find the female spirit has joined them.
Question: “Are you scared of the male spirit here?” Answer: “Yes”
Jim asks “The name I had earlier was that yours?” Answer: “Yes” which sounded like Lillian
Question: “Are you happy to stay here?” No answer.
Conclusion
That was really the end of the vigils. During the night we did split up in to pairs, not much happened except for Jane and Helen, both went up in to the Royal room and as soon as they got there they wanted to leave. There was a very worrying feeling for them, nasty and they couldn’t wait to leave there.
We enjoyed the night and we picked up a lot of things that the staff confirmed others had picked up. We would also like to thank the staff for making us welcome and joining us throughout the night.
We would like to say we got some really good evidence from the night, but apart from something making the K2 meter go off the way it did, nothing else really happened. There were lots of little noises and strange lights showing on the photo, however we are unable to say what they are or what caused them, but they could have been caused by anything paranormal, or non paranormal.
For sure there is paranormal activity going on here. The same things have been reported for many years, the children running around, the nasty man who pulls the ladies hair, and the nasty man who could have been the master of the house many years ago. Also the music and the feeling of a lady dancing in the Royal Room has been heard by many and she has been picked up by a few people, but she would not have been connected to this room as its fairly new and was once the garden; yet here she is, enjoying herself upstairs. We feel that not everything here is connected to the house, but also to the many items that have been donated to the place.
We get asked if we would go back to a venue in this case we would have to say no. I don’t believe we would for what it is, it was expensive and I believe one visit is enough, but worth the one visit.

Well, I found Yesterday's World investigation was a good night, the host were very helpful and we picked up a few things there. The cost I feel was worth it, and I feel there is more there to be found. From what our host said, we picked up on lots that others had also found, plus more. Would I go back, no i don’t think so, but would recommend it to others.

A very strange night, a mixture of fear, happiness and anger. There seemed some activity with Jim, Helen and Mac picking up on lots of info and I myself had some nasty feelings, for me it just didn’t have a lot going on. We did as always have a great night; I wouldn’t really won’t to go back though.

I had a great time -as usual. I must say the girls from Yesterdays World were lovely and helped the night go well. I enjoyed the opportunity to go off in smaller groups. In The Royal Room first time around we kept hearing noises at the end of the room with the Union Jack flag. We also think one the small panel doors by the display may have opened on its own. After hearing that the chemists shop area is very active I was disappointed that for us it was not active, but I suppose that’s just how it goes some days. Later on in the Royal Room I could hear what sounded like a small crowd of people just a few feet away, but as everyone present was in the room I cannot explain the sounds. I seemed to have lots of trouble getting my camera to focus and although I took approx 80 pictures around half are fuzzy or swirly or pink tinged. The camera is auto focus so why so many are fuzzy I cannot explain.

It was an interesting place, but not all I'd hoped it would be. I couldn't here all the voices from groups of people. But there were a lot of noises from the Royal room & something nasty there. Always felt we were being watched. The girls who worked there were lovely & very helpful, but as I said a little too pricey & I wouldn't go again.
Sue Chaplin
The museum was a maze in itself and when it is pitch black you struggled to get your bearings. There were a few areas that appeared to have some sort of activity, but not as active as I thought it would be. And the areas that were renowned for it, appeared as flat as a pancake. All in all I believe the Royal Room was probably the best especially when we did the first vigil, something not quite right in that place and possibly a swinging panel that opened on its own – will have to see when we come to analysis the video for the night. Wouldn’t return back unless I was visit the museum itself during daylight hours.

This EVP we got from from yesterdays world in the Royal room. It sounds like a Whistle, or a door opening or closing however i must add that there was NO one left in room, OR the building, could it have been someone outside, or has it come from an unknown source, I'll let you decide
