The Ragged School Museum was opened in 1990 by the Ragged School Museum Trust after it was saved from demolition.
Originally opened in 1867 by Dr Barnardo the Ragged School Museum has a very colourful history.
When Dr. Barnardo came to London from Ireland in 1866 he arrived to a city that was rife with poverty, disease and overcrowding. The educational opportunities for the poor were non-existent. He gave up his medical training after watching the cholera epidemic sweep through London leaving 3,000 Londoners either dead or homeless and destitute.
The Museum was for the purpose of demonstrating schooling in the Victorian age. It gives its visitors a sense of how things really were for the children of The Ragged School. The Museum also has several gallery areas including a Victorian East End kitchen with all its historical artefacts. You can experience firsthand what life was really like.
The hauntings at the Ragged School include ghost and spirit activity. There has been much recorded from Paranormal Groups which is not surprising when you consider the history of the building. Children's cries and laughing have been picked up on sound recordings, running has been heard and chanting. There has been a sighting of a school mistress and a cook. South West London Paranormal looked forward to coming to The Ragged School in East London as there had been many reports of the paranormal activities that had taken place here. There were 3 teams, as well as 3 mediums, one for each team.
As the team were gathering outside, Jim's mobile phone experienced some perculiar problems. It would not turn off or do any other functions, it was completey frozen. This had never happened before to his phone and he thought no more of it. It was not until he started the investigation and one of the cameras did the same thing, was it just one of those things, or something else.
The team also had a number of new batteries go dead during the investigation.

Team 1 - Ground Floor
Upon entering the ground floor for the first vigil, the team initially looked around. It consisted of the main foyer and entrance hall, which the team did not investigated, followed by a exhibition room and huge store room with two smaller store rooms off it, a small passageway with offices and toilets, again this area was not investigated.
After the team had conducted the walk about and fimiliarised themself, Jim briefed the team on how they were best to approach the forthcoming vigil as there were some "new comers" to the group. Following this they began with a séance. Jim picked up on a female spirit within the exhibition room and asked her to come forward into the circle, for a while nothing happened.
Jane then called out to any spirits that were present to talk into the red light of the recorder. When analysising the tapes from the recorder the following EVP 1 could be heard. It sounds like children, however it is not crystal clear due to the buzzing of the overhead electrical cables which was constant through this room, despite the lights all being switched off.

Team 1 - Ground Floor

Continuing with the séance Jim began to pick up on a little girl, he informed the team that she was shy to talk. Jane asked for her name and after a short while she said that her name was Amy. Asked if she was scared, she replied "Hmm". Jim said that he felt there was also other children hiding in the other room. At this point two smells could be detected by the group. One was a smell of violets and the other a rather unpleasant smell, perhaps bad body odour.
The team then moved into the adjoining storage room. As they entered Jim's camera completely died on him, it was red hot to touch and would not turn on or off. Once he took the battery cover off, the camera began to function again. The same phenomenon happened with his torch where it would not switch on dispite new batteries being inserted upon arrival.
Once more the team called out for anyone to come forward, perhaps the small children who were hiding could come out and play with them, but despite the teams pleas nothing was occurring. Some members of the group felt as if they could see dark shadow, but it could well be the feeling of the room. In the small storage room several people were felt drawn towards a childs dress that was hanging down from a box. Some said that they could see what appeared to be lights around this white petite dress, but none was caught on the camera or on the video.
It was then decided to return back to the exhibition room and do another séance. Jim lead this by calling out for spirits to make themselves known. He then began to pick up on a man who would walk around whacking his cane down on the desks - it was quite clear to him that this gentleman was a teacher. From his appearance he could see that he was losing his hair and that during his time here, he was a very strick teacher. Jim was then told "That he was one of the worst".
Following this the team decide to begin to do the ouija board, as they approached the board the group could smell alcohol within that area. Jim then began to feel giddy and found it increasing difficult to stand near the board. It was at this point that Sue saw a light anomaly go across Jim through the camcorder and asked if anyone had put their torch on, as she had just seen a light. Everyone confirmed that no torches were on. This particular light anomaly can be seen in the first video clip above.
Due to new members being involved in this particular investigation it was important for Jim to brief them on the policies of using a ouija board and what is to be expected. He began the session with a prayer of protection and then started to call out to any spirits that maybe presence to move the glass. He then felt as though someone was pushing him and asked that they push another member of the team, this did not occur, but the glass then began to move slowly.
Jim then asked "If you are a male move the glass to me or if you are a female move the glass to one of the ladies standing around the board" The glass moved to a female and Jim said "Thank you"
"Are you a young lady or a young girl?" "Lady"
"Were you a teacher here?" "No"
"Did you work here?" "Yes"
"How many spirits are here with us?" "4"
"Are they all adults?" "No"
"Are some children?" "Yes"
"Are there young boys here?" "Yes"
"Is there a young girl here called Amy?" "Yes"
"Amy was scared of a man, is this man here with us?" "No"
"Can you give me the initial of your first name please?" The glass did not move.
"Were you a cook here?" "Yes"
"Can you tell me how old you were when you passed over - were you over thirty?" "No"
"You were younger then thirty?" "Yes"
The glass then moved to between G and F.
"Was G or F the initial of your first name? "Yes"
"We are getting a name here - is your name Flora?" "Yes"
"Did you grow up here from a child and then worked here?" No answer received
"Can we just call you Flo for short?" "Yes"
"Are you scared of the gentleman here?" "Yes"
"Was he the headmaster?" "Yes"
Jim began to feel some pain around the head, there was pressure around him and Jane also felt the same. Jane then called out to Flora to make a bang or some other noise, so we know she was here. No sound could be heard from the team, however when analysising the tape from the recorder a sound was heard that appears to be a deep sigh EVP 2. Unfortunately, do to the constant buzzing from some electric equipment which was constant the quality of the EVP is not that good.

Following the ouija board session two light anomalies were later found when reviewing the video footage, these can be seen above in video's 2 and 3.
One member of the group then heard what appeared to be growling noises coming from the large storage room, the team then decided to move back into this area to investigated further. Upon entering the room cold spots were felt. Jim then added that he was now picking up on a lady, however this was not the same lady who they had communicated with on the ouija board. This particular lady worn all black clothing or at least very dark in appearance. She also wore her hair in a bun on the top of her head. The other lady wore her hair still in a bun but this was placed at the back of head.
It was then decided to form another circle and begin another séance. Soon Jim went into a trance and began rubbing his head. Jane asked him "Are you in pain?" to which Jim started to cry.
Question: "Have you been hit or slapped" Jim continued to hold his head with both hands toward the left side of his face and hair.
Question: "Can you tell us if you are boy or a girl"
Question: "Are you scared?"
With his hands still carassing his head, he started to rub this area.
Question: "Were you hit with a cane?" The spirit then replied "No burns"
Question: "How did you burn your head, was there a fire here?"
At this point Jim returned from his trance. Jane asked him if the spirit that was channeling through him was a man. He replied that he was unable to tell, but his face was badly disfigured.
Following this Jim felt the need to sit down for a moment. He continued to tell the group that he felt like he wanted to gouge out his eye, that was why he had to stop. After a while they reformed the circle and Jim returned into a trance.
Jane asks "Are you a child?" there was no answer. "How did you burn yourself?" Jane was concerned as Jim would not stop rubbing his face and then he began to sob. "Was it hot water that you were burnt with?" She still did not received any reply. Jim then starts to pull away from the circle and heads toward the smaller storage area. The group follows him, still holding hands and ensuring that Jim doesn't break the circle. As he enters the room he looks very frightened. Jane asks "Did the man hurt you" he answers "Yes"
Question: "Did he hit you with the cane?" Answer: "Yes"
Question: "Can you tell me your name?" Answer: "Michael"
Question: "How old are you?"
At this point Jim came out of the trance and he didn't seem to know where he was. Jane told him that he wasn't the same person as he had been in the other room. This boy named Michael appeared very scared and was biting his nails. As the group began to move out of the small room Jim did not want to come out. Jane asked "Is it Michael?" Jim answered that it wasn't, it was just he felt that he was not able to move.
When the team reassembled in the exhibition room, Jim fell back into another trance. He started to act funny, with fits of giggles. Jane went up to him and asked him "Are you drunk?" Jim replies with a "Shhh" laughs and starts to cuddle one of the pillars.
Jane then asks "How old are you? you're not very old are you?"
"Where did you get the booze from?"
"Shhh" he replies. Every time Jane tries talking to him, the more he laughs. He can hardly walk and just clings on to the pillar.
Jane continues by asking "You're not very old are you, perhaps about 14 years old?" Jim then returns back.
The team decided to do another séance before the end of the first vigil. Jim allows himself to return to a trance state and a man comes forward who is very well spoken; he is an officer in Army. Jane asks "Why are you here?" He doesn't like Jane because she is a female. She request that he give her some respect and asks again her original question. He replies with "You must be suffering with your hearing".
Jim confirms that this man was someone who may have recruited for the army, he was not sure why, but he saw the recruitment poster of Lord Chamberlian. They continue with the séance and Amy channels through Jim again. She look sad and lost. Jane asks her "Are you lonely" and she answers with a nod of the head. She carrys on by saying "She is hiding".
Question: "Are you hiding from the man?" She shakes head indicating "Yes".
Question: "Does he hit you?"
Amy starts to cry.
Question: "Is it the headmaster?"
Jim then confrims that the man she is hiding from is not the headmaster. He is a man who worked her, perhaps a kitchen hand. He touch the children inappropriately - a child molester.
Team 1 - 1st Floor
This floor comprised of one mock-up Victorian classroom, an adjoining room (to which the team had placed some tricker object - a football, two toy cars and a tennis ball. A camcorder was recording for one hour and none of these objects moved during this period) The third room on this floor was a large storage room.
Upon entering this floor Jane informed the group that she was feeling light headed and also sick. The team proceeded to the Victorian classroom to begin the vigil. Jim called out for any spirits to make themselves know. A noise could then be heard, but after searching for possibilies the noise was discoved to be a dripping noise coming from one of the radiators.
It was then decided to hold an ouija board session. Again various noises could be heard, but it could have been a number of things. The floorboards in this room were incrediably squeeking, the slight shifting of weight could produce a noise. It was also found that the team investigating on the top floor could also be heard at times.
The glass on the ouija board was very still, despite calling out several times. Jim began to pick up on someone who again seemed very scared, Jane too was feeling the effects. Due to no responses on the ouija board, it was decided to hold a séance. Jim was now channeling with a man in the room and went into a trance.
Jane said " Are you the person who is affecting me?" the response was "I'll do more than affect you, if you don't sit down. You will do as you're told here"
Question: "Are you the headmaster?" Answer: "Who are you to question me?"
Question: "What is your name?" Answer: "Call me headmaster" he said with a tone in his voice.
Question: "You don't like women do you?"
At this point several members started to sway
Jim came out of his trance and the team broke up the circle. Denise then stood behind the teacher's desk and wore the dunce's hat. After a short while she felt the hat being pulled off her head and it fell to the floor. She exclaimed that she had not touched the hat at all or moved her head. Jim then asked her to put the hat back on her head and several members called out for the hat to fall off her head again. Sure enough it once again got pulled off her head and fell to the floor. This can be seen in the 4th video above.
Several members had put this hat on prior to the seance but no one had this experience. Claire then put the dunce's hat on immediately after Denise and stood behind the teacher's desk with the cane in her hand, but the hat remained on her head.
The team decide to do another séance and Jim returns into a trance. He starts to hide behind furniture. Jane asks "What are you hiding from? If I hide as well will you talk to me?"
Question: "Is the nasty man here?" Answer: "Yes"
Question: "What is his name, can you tell me?" Answer: "Alfred"
Question: "What does he do to you? Does he do naughty things to you?" Answer: "Yes, he takes me places"
Question: "Does he work here?" Answer: "No"
Question: "Does he bring things here?" Answer: "Don't know"
Question: "Who is this friend of his?" No answer was given
Jim tells the group what he picked up . He says he was told of someone who would come to the school and took the children somewhere. This person would have molested them. He could see this man with black horses and a carriage. Sue asks "Was it like a funeral carriage?" and Jim replies "Yes"
Jane calls out for the man to come forward, but gets nothing at this point. Jim feels that Amy is nearby and begins to call her back. The team starts to experience temperature changes, which could have been down to anything. Jane then starts to feel really sick again; infact at one point felt she was going to be sick. She starts to become very emotional and Jim had to help her, thankfully it soon passed.
Jim then picked up on someone present. All of a sudden he grabbed Jane's hand and pulled her out of the classroom into the other room and began dancing and singing the song "Ring, a ring a roses". At the end they both fell down.
The adjoining room to the classroom did not hold any activity, despite asking for the balls to be rolled or for the toy cars to be played with. The team then moved into the large storage room which was full to the brim. There was a walk way which the team were able to follow which passed along side cabinets after cabinets. Jim said he felt that someone had hung themself somewhere in the building, the feeling was that this happened on the top floor above.
The group left the room and Sue with the camcorder and Jane remained. They continued to walk along side the rows of cabinets and boxes calling out for any spirits to make contact with them. It was a one point that a clicking noise was heard, but they were unable to determine where the noise can come from. They asked for it to be repeated, but silence remained. The noise can be heard on video 5 above.
Following this the group held an old style séance at the entrance of the storage room where there was more space to gather round. They called out and Jim remarked that he could feel someone laughing at them. He then whistled and asked for the spirit to copy him. Sue and Jane thought they heard a reply, although none of the others heard and nothing was picked up on the recorder or camcorder. There were other noises heard, but nothing to say it was paranormal.
Jim then asked to stop the circle as he was getting a pain in his chest and he felt he couldn't proceed further. Jane also complained that she was feeling the same. At this point it was decided to end this particular vigil.
Team 1 - Top Floor
This floor contained one huge room which was another mock-up Victorian classroom with many desk and benches. It also contained two small rooms off it, which contained a little furniture in them, but overall these rooms where relatively bare. There was also another room which had a mock-up Victorian parlour room.
Upon entering the large classroom Jim picks up immediately on the hanging he had mentioned earlier and feels very strongly that it had occurred in this room. Jim asked if anyone would like to try using the dowsing rods and explains how they work. Helena, one of our guests said she would like to have go. She called out to any spirits in the room to come forward and move these rods. The rods then cross to indicate Yes.
Question: "Are you a male?" Answer: Again the rods crossed indicating "Yes" A noise is then heard which sounds like a rattle.
Question: "Did you work here?" The rods remained still in her hand.
Question: "Are you a child?" Still no movement.
Question: "Are you an adult?" The rods are still
Despite asking more questions, the rods did not move again.
The group moved between the large room and smaller rooms within, calling out. Jim give to knocks and asked for any spirits to copy him. He, Jane and Sue thought they heard something, but when asked to repeat the knocking, nothing was heard. From this the group decide to try some table tipping. Jim explains how it works and where to place their hands. They call out several times, but the table remained still throughout.
Still in the large classroom the team hold a séance. After a short while Jim goes into a trance. Jane asks "Who are you?" the reply was "You ask a lot of question"
"Will you tell me your name?" No answer was given.
"What did you do here?" "Many things"
"Like what?" "This and that"
"Were you a teacher?" "Not really, just helped out"
"Can you tell me your name?" "Well most call me Jack, but my first name is Jacob"
"How old are you?" "Hmm 29 I believe"
"So your a young lad then?" "Thank you"
"Were you liked by the children?" "Yes, I hope so"
"Were you a good person?" "Some would say"
"Did you like it here? "Yes"
"Were you a child here yourself?" "Yes, I tried to help"
"What things did you do?" "I wasn't supposed to, but I was once in the medical profession"
"You were young to be a doctor" "I didn't say I was a doctor" he continued "You must be careful of him"
"Careful of who Jacob?" "He's a nasty old man"
"Who, the headmaster?" "He was very cruel to the children"
"Does he not like us being here? "No"
"Does he fear us?" "No he plays with fear"
"Is that him banging in there?" "No. You will know if it's him"
"So what did you do with the children?" "Try and help them, get them better, but I couldn't for long"
"Why" "I was ill"
"And you lost your life. What was wrong with you?" "I think you would call it TB"
Jim then felt a lot of pain coming from Jacob
"Are you in pain?" "Yes"
"Why do you come here?" "The children need me"
"Why won't they cross over?" "I think they are scared" he then said "He is getting closer, can you see him?"
"Do you know what his name is?" "No, everybody would just call him headmaster. He was stupid"
"Why was he stupid?" "He saw nothing"
"What did he do?" "No child should be whipped that way"
"What else did he do?" "Shut them in cupboards"
"Did you see more than you should of?" "No not with him"
"With someone else?" "Yes, a boy. Children would fear him more than the headmaster"
"Did he work here?" "Not sure"
"Did the children tell you?" "No"
"What do you think he did to them?" "I don't want to think about it"
"Is he coming?" "No, but he's not far away" he then said "I must go, please be careful"
"Thank you Jacob, peace be with you"
The team then move to one of the smaller rooms off the classroom. There appeared to be a lot of banging going on within this room, which sounded like it was coming from the window. Some of the group tested the window by rocking it, there were of the old kind, that slided up to open. The sound was exactly the same. It didn't appear to be that windy outside, but it was uncertain if this factor was the main contributor for the window to rattle.
After a short time Jim started to sing the song "Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow". He then asked for help with the next part, which the team were able to provide. "with silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row." Jim could find no reason at the time for being told to sing this particular song, but after research done after the investigation there was found to be an interesting story behind this rhyme.
‘The Mary alluded to in this traditional English nursery rhyme is reputed to be Mary Tudor, or Bloody Mary, who was the daughter of King Henry VIII. Queen Mary was a staunch Catholic and the garden referred to is an allusion to graveyards which were increasing in size with those who dared to continue to adhere to the Protestant faith - Protestant martyrs.
The silver bells and cockle shells referred to in the Nursery Rhyme were colloquialisms for instruments of torture. The 'silver bells' were thumbscrews which crushed the thumb between two hard surfaces by the tightening of a screw. The 'cockleshells' were believed to be instruments of torture which were attached to the genitals!
The 'maids' were a device to behead people called the Maiden. Beheading a victim was fraught with problems. It could take up to 11 blows to actually sever the head, the victim often resisted and had to be chased around the scaffold. Margaret Pole (1473 - 1541), Countess of Salisbury did not go willingly to her death and had to be chased and hacked at by the Executioner. Jim could feel someone close to him and asked them to come forward. Jim said her name was Mary and she was a child who was around 9 or 10 years of age. Jim felt that she wanted to cross over and therefore, asked the group to form a circle and hold hand to help in the process of helping her. After they had aided in this transition, Jim informed them that she had gone, but he continued, it didn't seem quite right. It was all too quick and he couldn't understand why she had not crossed over beforehand.
The group split up to investigate further. Sue and Jane went into the other of the small rooms off the classroom. They called out for any spirits to make a noise or to show themselves. Intermittent banging could be held which appeared to be coming from the upper windows. Again it did not appear to be windy outside and the trees that could be seen were not moving. Jane calls out again and another noise is heard. There were some coathangers lying on a shelf and it was felt that the noise was coming from that area.
The rest of the team then join them in this room and Jim recommends that they try using the dowsing rods to see if they can communicate with any spirts. He calls out, whilst holding the rods, "If there are any spirits with them in the room." The rods begin to cross indicating "Yes"
Jim asks for the rods to be pointed towards where they are standing, they move towards one of the corners of the room.
Question: "Are you a male?" The rods remain still.
Sue request Jim to ask if it was the floating lady. The group have a little giggly about this, but she said she was serious about this. Jim asks the question and surprisingly enough the rods cross indicationg "Yes" again.
Unfortunately, despite asking further questions, the rods did not move. Sue had been told by a member of one of the other teams regarding them having seen a lady who appeared to have floated past the window. This had been kept from everybody else on this team.
The team did go into the room which held the mock up Victorian parlour room, but no activity was found at all within this area.
Team 1 - The Basement
The basement area contained a large store room, the rest home, toilet area and kitchen. The team only did a vigil in the large storage room and completely ran out of time to do the other areas.
Upon entering the storage room the team had a wonder around to familiarise themselves. Everyone had some strange feelings about this area and did not feel comfortable. Helena said she could see flashing lights coming from the far end of the room. It was decided to start with the ouija board to try and make contact with whom ever was here. Jim called out several time for any spirits to move the glass, but there was nothing coming through. The group left the ouija board and formed a circle to hold a séance. While they were calling out many members of the group said that could see shadows going around the room. Denise felt someone pull her away from the circle. There were also more flashing lights seen at the back end of the room.
The team was then interrupted by Mac, she asked if her team could come down and join them. It was coming towards the end of the night and their group had some unfinished business down in this area. It was agreed that Team 1 and Team 2 would do a joint vigil.
The two groups all sat down in a circle. Jim asks Kevin to lead with another séance. As Kevin began to call out Jim says that he can see a light behind Kevin. Mac calls out for the young boy they picked on before to come forward and make contact with the group. Once the circle gets going Jim starts to go off into trance. Jane and Kevin call out to him and ask if he is alright, Jim does not respond.
Jane tries to get a name from him, but Jim starts to choke. He comes back and says he was in a great deal of pain almost like having a heart attack. Kevin says the shadows are back and he can see them going around the room. Many of the group say that they are begin to feel very cold and have the feeling someone is lurcking in the back.
Jim starts almost straight away to slip back into trance. Mac asked again for the boy to come forward. Jim says it’s not a boy. Someone says that they can hear hear a rattling noise, like keys moving. Mac asks for the rattling noise to be made again. When the tape was analysed you can hear a very slight rattle which could almost be said to be keys. EVP3
One member of the group then heard what appeared to be growling noises coming from the large storage room, the team then decided to move back into this area to investigated further. Upon entering the room cold spots were felt. Jim then added that he was now picking up on a lady, however this was not the same lady who they had communicated with on the ouija board. This particular lady worn all black clothing or at least very dark in appearance. She also wore her hair in a bun on the top of her head. The other lady wore her hair still in a bun but this was placed at the back of head.
It was then decided to form another circle and begin another séance. Soon Jim went into a trance and began rubbing his head. Jane asked him "Are you in pain?" to which Jim started to cry.
Question: "Have you been hit or slapped" Jim continued to hold his head with both hands toward the left side of his face and hair.
Question: "Can you tell us if you are boy or a girl"
Question: "Are you scared?"
With his hands still carassing his head, he started to rub this area.
Question: "Were you hit with a cane?" The spirit then replied "No burns"
Question: "How did you burn your head, was there a fire here?"
At this point Jim returned from his trance. Jane asked him if the spirit that was channeling through him was a man. He replied that he was unable to tell, but his face was badly disfigured.
Following this Jim felt the need to sit down for a moment. He continued to tell the group that he felt like he wanted to gouge out his eye, that was why he had to stop. After a while they reformed the circle and Jim returned into a trance.
Jane asks "Are you a child?" there was no answer. "How did you burn yourself?" Jane was concerned as Jim would not stop rubbing his face and then he began to sob. "Was it hot water that you were burnt with?" She still did not received any reply. Jim then starts to pull away from the circle and heads toward the smaller storage area. The group follows him, still holding hands and ensuring that Jim doesn't break the circle. As he enters the room he looks very frightened. Jane asks "Did the man hurt you" he answers "Yes"
Question: "Did he hit you with the cane?" Answer: "Yes"
Question: "Can you tell me your name?" Answer: "Michael"
Question: "How old are you?"
At this point Jim came out of the trance and he didn't seem to know where he was. Jane told him that he wasn't the same person as he had been in the other room. This boy named Michael appeared very scared and was biting his nails. As the group began to move out of the small room Jim did not want to come out. Jane asked "Is it Michael?" Jim answered that it wasn't, it was just he felt that he was not able to move.
When the team reassembled in the exhibition room, Jim fell back into another trance. He started to act funny, with fits of giggles. Jane went up to him and asked him "Are you drunk?" Jim replies with a "Shhh" laughs and starts to cuddle one of the pillars.
Jane then asks "How old are you? you're not very old are you?"
"Where did you get the booze from?"
"Shhh" he replies. Every time Jane tries talking to him, the more he laughs. He can hardly walk and just clings on to the pillar.
Jane continues by asking "You're not very old are you, perhaps about 14 years old?" Jim then returns back.
The team decided to do another séance before the end of the first vigil. Jim allows himself to return to a trance state and a man comes forward who is very well spoken; he is an officer in Army. Jane asks "Why are you here?" He doesn't like Jane because she is a female. She request that he give her some respect and asks again her original question. He replies with "You must be suffering with your hearing".
Jim confirms that this man was someone who may have recruited for the army, he was not sure why, but he saw the recruitment poster of Lord Chamberlian. They continue with the séance and Amy channels through Jim again. She look sad and lost. Jane asks her "Are you lonely" and she answers with a nod of the head. She carrys on by saying "She is hiding".
Question: "Are you hiding from the man?" She shakes head indicating "Yes".
Question: "Does he hit you?"
Amy starts to cry.
Question: "Is it the headmaster?"
Jim then confrims that the man she is hiding from is not the headmaster. He is a man who worked her, perhaps a kitchen hand. He touch the children inappropriately - a child molester.
Team 1 - 1st Floor
This floor comprised of one mock-up Victorian classroom, an adjoining room (to which the team had placed some tricker object - a football, two toy cars and a tennis ball. A camcorder was recording for one hour and none of these objects moved during this period) The third room on this floor was a large storage room.
Upon entering this floor Jane informed the group that she was feeling light headed and also sick. The team proceeded to the Victorian classroom to begin the vigil. Jim called out for any spirits to make themselves know. A noise could then be heard, but after searching for possibilies the noise was discoved to be a dripping noise coming from one of the radiators.
It was then decided to hold an ouija board session. Again various noises could be heard, but it could have been a number of things. The floorboards in this room were incrediably squeeking, the slight shifting of weight could produce a noise. It was also found that the team investigating on the top floor could also be heard at times.
The glass on the ouija board was very still, despite calling out several times. Jim began to pick up on someone who again seemed very scared, Jane too was feeling the effects. Due to no responses on the ouija board, it was decided to hold a séance. Jim was now channeling with a man in the room and went into a trance.
Jane said " Are you the person who is affecting me?" the response was "I'll do more than affect you, if you don't sit down. You will do as you're told here"
Question: "Are you the headmaster?" Answer: "Who are you to question me?"
Question: "What is your name?" Answer: "Call me headmaster" he said with a tone in his voice.
Question: "You don't like women do you?"
At this point several members started to sway
Jim came out of his trance and the team broke up the circle. Denise then stood behind the teacher's desk and wore the dunce's hat. After a short while she felt the hat being pulled off her head and it fell to the floor. She exclaimed that she had not touched the hat at all or moved her head. Jim then asked her to put the hat back on her head and several members called out for the hat to fall off her head again. Sure enough it once again got pulled off her head and fell to the floor. This can be seen in the 4th video above.
Several members had put this hat on prior to the seance but no one had this experience. Claire then put the dunce's hat on immediately after Denise and stood behind the teacher's desk with the cane in her hand, but the hat remained on her head.
The team decide to do another séance and Jim returns into a trance. He starts to hide behind furniture. Jane asks "What are you hiding from? If I hide as well will you talk to me?"
Question: "Is the nasty man here?" Answer: "Yes"
Question: "What is his name, can you tell me?" Answer: "Alfred"
Question: "What does he do to you? Does he do naughty things to you?" Answer: "Yes, he takes me places"
Question: "Does he work here?" Answer: "No"
Question: "Does he bring things here?" Answer: "Don't know"
Question: "Who is this friend of his?" No answer was given
Jim tells the group what he picked up . He says he was told of someone who would come to the school and took the children somewhere. This person would have molested them. He could see this man with black horses and a carriage. Sue asks "Was it like a funeral carriage?" and Jim replies "Yes"
Jane calls out for the man to come forward, but gets nothing at this point. Jim feels that Amy is nearby and begins to call her back. The team starts to experience temperature changes, which could have been down to anything. Jane then starts to feel really sick again; infact at one point felt she was going to be sick. She starts to become very emotional and Jim had to help her, thankfully it soon passed.
Jim then picked up on someone present. All of a sudden he grabbed Jane's hand and pulled her out of the classroom into the other room and began dancing and singing the song "Ring, a ring a roses". At the end they both fell down.
The adjoining room to the classroom did not hold any activity, despite asking for the balls to be rolled or for the toy cars to be played with. The team then moved into the large storage room which was full to the brim. There was a walk way which the team were able to follow which passed along side cabinets after cabinets. Jim said he felt that someone had hung themself somewhere in the building, the feeling was that this happened on the top floor above.
The group left the room and Sue with the camcorder and Jane remained. They continued to walk along side the rows of cabinets and boxes calling out for any spirits to make contact with them. It was a one point that a clicking noise was heard, but they were unable to determine where the noise can come from. They asked for it to be repeated, but silence remained. The noise can be heard on video 5 above.
Following this the group held an old style séance at the entrance of the storage room where there was more space to gather round. They called out and Jim remarked that he could feel someone laughing at them. He then whistled and asked for the spirit to copy him. Sue and Jane thought they heard a reply, although none of the others heard and nothing was picked up on the recorder or camcorder. There were other noises heard, but nothing to say it was paranormal.
Jim then asked to stop the circle as he was getting a pain in his chest and he felt he couldn't proceed further. Jane also complained that she was feeling the same. At this point it was decided to end this particular vigil.
Team 1 - Top Floor
This floor contained one huge room which was another mock-up Victorian classroom with many desk and benches. It also contained two small rooms off it, which contained a little furniture in them, but overall these rooms where relatively bare. There was also another room which had a mock-up Victorian parlour room.
Upon entering the large classroom Jim picks up immediately on the hanging he had mentioned earlier and feels very strongly that it had occurred in this room. Jim asked if anyone would like to try using the dowsing rods and explains how they work. Helena, one of our guests said she would like to have go. She called out to any spirits in the room to come forward and move these rods. The rods then cross to indicate Yes.
Question: "Are you a male?" Answer: Again the rods crossed indicating "Yes" A noise is then heard which sounds like a rattle.
Question: "Did you work here?" The rods remained still in her hand.
Question: "Are you a child?" Still no movement.
Question: "Are you an adult?" The rods are still
Despite asking more questions, the rods did not move again.
The group moved between the large room and smaller rooms within, calling out. Jim give to knocks and asked for any spirits to copy him. He, Jane and Sue thought they heard something, but when asked to repeat the knocking, nothing was heard. From this the group decide to try some table tipping. Jim explains how it works and where to place their hands. They call out several times, but the table remained still throughout.
Still in the large classroom the team hold a séance. After a short while Jim goes into a trance. Jane asks "Who are you?" the reply was "You ask a lot of question"
"Will you tell me your name?" No answer was given.
"What did you do here?" "Many things"
"Like what?" "This and that"
"Were you a teacher?" "Not really, just helped out"
"Can you tell me your name?" "Well most call me Jack, but my first name is Jacob"
"How old are you?" "Hmm 29 I believe"
"So your a young lad then?" "Thank you"
"Were you liked by the children?" "Yes, I hope so"
"Were you a good person?" "Some would say"
"Did you like it here? "Yes"
"Were you a child here yourself?" "Yes, I tried to help"
"What things did you do?" "I wasn't supposed to, but I was once in the medical profession"
"You were young to be a doctor" "I didn't say I was a doctor" he continued "You must be careful of him"
"Careful of who Jacob?" "He's a nasty old man"
"Who, the headmaster?" "He was very cruel to the children"
"Does he not like us being here? "No"
"Does he fear us?" "No he plays with fear"
"Is that him banging in there?" "No. You will know if it's him"
"So what did you do with the children?" "Try and help them, get them better, but I couldn't for long"
"Why" "I was ill"
"And you lost your life. What was wrong with you?" "I think you would call it TB"
Jim then felt a lot of pain coming from Jacob
"Are you in pain?" "Yes"
"Why do you come here?" "The children need me"
"Why won't they cross over?" "I think they are scared" he then said "He is getting closer, can you see him?"
"Do you know what his name is?" "No, everybody would just call him headmaster. He was stupid"
"Why was he stupid?" "He saw nothing"
"What did he do?" "No child should be whipped that way"
"What else did he do?" "Shut them in cupboards"
"Did you see more than you should of?" "No not with him"
"With someone else?" "Yes, a boy. Children would fear him more than the headmaster"
"Did he work here?" "Not sure"
"Did the children tell you?" "No"
"What do you think he did to them?" "I don't want to think about it"
"Is he coming?" "No, but he's not far away" he then said "I must go, please be careful"
"Thank you Jacob, peace be with you"
The team then move to one of the smaller rooms off the classroom. There appeared to be a lot of banging going on within this room, which sounded like it was coming from the window. Some of the group tested the window by rocking it, there were of the old kind, that slided up to open. The sound was exactly the same. It didn't appear to be that windy outside, but it was uncertain if this factor was the main contributor for the window to rattle.
After a short time Jim started to sing the song "Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow". He then asked for help with the next part, which the team were able to provide. "with silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row." Jim could find no reason at the time for being told to sing this particular song, but after research done after the investigation there was found to be an interesting story behind this rhyme.
‘The Mary alluded to in this traditional English nursery rhyme is reputed to be Mary Tudor, or Bloody Mary, who was the daughter of King Henry VIII. Queen Mary was a staunch Catholic and the garden referred to is an allusion to graveyards which were increasing in size with those who dared to continue to adhere to the Protestant faith - Protestant martyrs.
The silver bells and cockle shells referred to in the Nursery Rhyme were colloquialisms for instruments of torture. The 'silver bells' were thumbscrews which crushed the thumb between two hard surfaces by the tightening of a screw. Jim is fighting this and Kevin tells Jim to step forward and let the spirit step back. There is somethings that does not want to let Jim go. The group is concerned as it takes a long while for Jim to come back, but Jim is happy with his own guilds to deal with the problem.
The vigil ends successfully with Jim feeling fine afterwards.

Team 2 - 1st Floor
When entering onto the floor the team had a look around before starting the vigil. Kevin says he feels that there is no spirit grounded or stuck here in this area. He then calls out for any spirits to make themselves known. Mac feels that someone has touched her head and calls out to them to repeat what they did. Kevin informs the group that there are more then just children here. He then picks up on a spirit and asks them to come forward.
The team then all hear a noise and Mac asks for the noise to be made again for them to hear, it is not repeated and the original noise heard by the group was not picked up on the tape.
It was then decided to do the ouija board. As they begin this session Dawn said that she is experiencing a bad headache that has just come on. Alison and Kevin say that they both have dry throats. Footsteps are then heard. Dawn calls out for the glass to be moved, but it stays completely still with no movement despite several attempts to call out to the spirits. Kevin believes that the spirits have had enough of it, despite this being the first vigil on this floor that night. They just didn't want to come forward and communicate with the board, although they were around.
The group were determined not to give up and kept asking them to come forward. Again they all heard a noise, but were not able to figure out what the possible source would be, they felt that the room had become very cold, but there was still no movement from the glass.
Dawn asks for them to touch one of the group or to make a sound. There were some tricker objects around, why don't they go and play with the toys or the ball. Kevin says you have to talk to them more sternly, like a teacher. Mac then calls out to them with a firm voice, telling them they would be in trouble if they did not do as they were told. There was still is no response. Mac rolls a small ball across the floor and asked them to roll the ball back to them, but the ball did not move. Kevin tells them that he has received a message saying "We are not suppose to talk to people we don't know".
He then picks up on a little girl, but she will not come forward. Her age is around 12 or 13 years and was alive during the late 1800's. He also picks up on a lady in her 30's, her name is Alison Smith. She is showing him some old newspapers filled with death. Although she was a school teacher she appears also to be involved in prostitution and was located in a brothel in the Whitechapel area. The year was late 1880, then he came up with May 1878.
Dawn calls out for her to come forward and if she could would she touch Alison's head. Kevin continues by saying the lady was married, but did not have any children. She was told, by whom it was not known, that she would go on to better things, but it didn't happen the way she was promised it would. Mac asked her to move the door or to come and speak into the red light of the recorder, but neither of these happened.
Mac hears what appears to be the sound of children in the next room, the group all move to this room to check it. Both Mac and Kevin then see a light right in front of them, which they cannot explain, he says that the children really wanted to be happy and that they made themselves look older to fit in.
Then various phenomena begin to occur; Mac feels a breeze around her head and more to the right ear. Kevin smells pipe tobacco. Noises are then heard and they call out to make them louder, but there is no response. Mac then hears heavy breathing coming from in front of her and again feels the breeze on her right side. Once more both Mac and Kevin see a light pass in front of them. Kevin asks the spirits to tap once for yes and twice for no. A noise is heard, but when asked to repeat it, nothing occurs.
Kevin informs Dawn and Mac that a child is now coming towards them. He then begins to feel dizzy and both Mac and Dawn agree that they are begin to feel this as well. Mac and Kevin then see a light zigzagging in front of them, like someone doing a figure of 8. Kevin is then told that there is someone who knows why they are there. This person enjoys it and finds it fun. He keeps touching Kevin and Dawn also says she feels that someone is touching her around her face.
Mac continues to ask the spirits to say their name or anything else into the little red light of the recorder, but when the tape was analysed nothing was heard. The group then conclude that they would take a break and move on to the next floor.
Team 2 - Top Floor
The team started their investigation on this floor in the main classroom area. As soon as they entered they heard a noise, but were unable to detect where it was coming from. A noise was picked up on the recorder, but is not clear enough to put on as an EVP.

Kevin confirms that he can see her as well. It was like she is outside the window and looking in. Mac continues by saying that she want to say the name Julie, perhaps that is her name. Kevin then sees a man standing near the blackboard, he has a white shirt and is also wearing a waist coat. Dawn adds that she can see someone standing there, but they are wearing a black hat.
With this, the group decide to try the ouija board. Mac calls for spirits to come forward. They feel the glass vibrating underneath their fingers. Dawn believes she has just heard a noise and she is also getting a draft over her hands. Kevin said he heard the noise too and it sounded like someone sitting down on a chair. The noise is heard again it was similiar to a moving chair going across the floor. Mac says she can see someone behind Kevin.
Dawn asks Kevin if he can see anyone, Kevin replies that there are 4 of them. They call out for them to come forward and move the glass; they don't have to spell anything out, just to move the glass. Stewart exclaims that his hand has gone cold and calls out to them, Dawn also has a breeze going across her hands. Kevin informs the group that they are here, just not coming forward to communicate. He then picks up on a snotty nosed child. Stewart says he feels as if something has just gone down the left hand side of his face.
The glass then begins to move very slowly on the board. Kevin see a little girl, she loves to dance and sing nursery rhymes, especially "Ring a Ring a Roses. Mac starts to sing the song for her. The team decide to try some table tipping. Mac thought she heard a child's voice. Dawn looks up at Mac and tells her that her face looks different, it has changed. Kevin can feel the table rocking, the others feel that it is vibrating. They keep calling out, but very little else happens.
Now they tried the dowsing rods. They call out several times for any spirit to move the rods. It was at this point that a voice could be heard on the tape when it was later analysed. It is very clear the voice says "Hello Heather". There was no one on the team by that name and no one had a voice like this one heard. The team never acknowledge that they heard this being said at the time. (Team 2 EVP1)
When entering onto the floor the team had a look around before starting the vigil. Kevin says he feels that there is no spirit grounded or stuck here in this area. He then calls out for any spirits to make themselves known. Mac feels that someone has touched her head and calls out to them to repeat what they did. Kevin informs the group that there are more then just children here. He then picks up on a spirit and asks them to come forward.
The team then all hear a noise and Mac asks for the noise to be made again for them to hear, it is not repeated and the original noise heard by the group was not picked up on the tape.
It was then decided to do the ouija board. As they begin this session Dawn said that she is experiencing a bad headache that has just come on. Alison and Kevin say that they both have dry throats. Footsteps are then heard. Dawn calls out for the glass to be moved, but it stays completely still with no movement despite several attempts to call out to the spirits. Kevin believes that the spirits have had enough of it, despite this being the first vigil on this floor that night. They just didn't want to come forward and communicate with the board, although they were around.
The group were determined not to give up and kept asking them to come forward. Again they all heard a noise, but were not able to figure out what the possible source would be, they felt that the room had become very cold, but there was still no movement from the glass.
Dawn asks for them to touch one of the group or to make a sound. There were some tricker objects around, why don't they go and play with the toys or the ball. Kevin says you have to talk to them more sternly, like a teacher. Mac then calls out to them with a firm voice, telling them they would be in trouble if they did not do as they were told. There was still is no response. Mac rolls a small ball across the floor and asked them to roll the ball back to them, but the ball did not move. Kevin tells them that he has received a message saying "We are not suppose to talk to people we don't know".
He then picks up on a little girl, but she will not come forward. Her age is around 12 or 13 years and was alive during the late 1800's. He also picks up on a lady in her 30's, her name is Alison Smith. She is showing him some old newspapers filled with death. Although she was a school teacher she appears also to be involved in prostitution and was located in a brothel in the Whitechapel area. The year was late 1880, then he came up with May 1878.
Dawn calls out for her to come forward and if she could would she touch Alison's head. Kevin continues by saying the lady was married, but did not have any children. She was told, by whom it was not known, that she would go on to better things, but it didn't happen the way she was promised it would. Mac asked her to move the door or to come and speak into the red light of the recorder, but neither of these happened.
Mac hears what appears to be the sound of children in the next room, the group all move to this room to check it. Both Mac and Kevin then see a light right in front of them, which they cannot explain, he says that the children really wanted to be happy and that they made themselves look older to fit in.
Then various phenomena begin to occur; Mac feels a breeze around her head and more to the right ear. Kevin smells pipe tobacco. Noises are then heard and they call out to make them louder, but there is no response. Mac then hears heavy breathing coming from in front of her and again feels the breeze on her right side. Once more both Mac and Kevin see a light pass in front of them. Kevin asks the spirits to tap once for yes and twice for no. A noise is heard, but when asked to repeat it, nothing occurs.
Kevin informs Dawn and Mac that a child is now coming towards them. He then begins to feel dizzy and both Mac and Dawn agree that they are begin to feel this as well. A sound is then heard coming from the corner. Kevin asks the spirits to make that sound again, another noise is heard. He asks again, but no more can be heard. The team enters the classroom and sit down at the desk as if ready to attend a lesson. Dawn acts as the teacher and gets them to sit and listen. Mac hears footsteps, they all listen out. Kevin can feel lots of energy building up in the room. Dawn says she feels calm, but Mac can see four shadows in the room.
The dowsing rods are tried again and Dawn calls out for any spirits to move the rods. The rods cross indicating "Yes". More questions are asked, but the rods remain still.
The vigil then ended when no further activity took place.
Team 2 - The Basement
The team entered the large storage room with much in trepidation. Kevin tells them that he feels strange, he feels nothing, to him that is a warning. Alison things she sees a light. The group starts to feel uncomfortable within this area, Kevin mentions that he can see shadows of children, he can also smell something and then gets a slight tug on his arm.
Dawn now sees what looks like a light. The team observe shadows all over and in front of them as they stand quietly in a circle. Kevin tells the shadows to back away, they are now moving faster, he begins to feel sick and says it's a warning. Dawn tells the group that she hears a sound like a growling noise. Mac notices that the shadows have now moved near to where Kevin is.
As they continue in the circle, Stewart is shocked as something passes in front of his face. Dawn then hears a noise, but is not sure if it is coming from upstairs or near to them. Kevin hears a noise behind them and then see a light. He exclaims that it is odd, he is not seeing shadows any more, but instead he is seeing light anomalies. The group look around and agree that they also can see these and that they were all around the room.
They then notice how dark it has gone in some places within the room. A coldness seems to sweep around the team as they sit in their circle. They feel cold draft on their faces, as though someone or something is touching them. Now the group smell what appears to be like old sweat. Kevin is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and asks the team if they can take a break.
Kevin can't make sense of the surroundings; it should be a happy place as it was once a playground, but it appears sad and there is an unhappy feeling about it. Mac senses someone touching her face again and also notices something in front of Kevin. He tells them it is getting too close and wants them to move back. He continues to add that they want to channel through him, but he does want to and will not allow it. Mac can now see a hand in front of her and Kevin acknowledges this and tells them to step back again, he is getting an uneasy feeling about the whole situation.
The group decided to investigating the meeting room. They throw a ball and ask the spirits to throw it back. Kevin then gets the name Benjamin, Mac calls out to him to come forward and play with them. Dawn points out that she can see something black, which doesn't appear to stay still. Kevin then picks up on someone else. Dawn asks "Did he like it here?" and Kevin replies "Sometimes". Noises are then heard by the team, which unfortunately are not picked up by the recorder. Kevin then feels that there is another boy here who is around 9 or 10 years of age, his father was horrible to him.
They return to the storage room and use the ouija board. Kevin feels there is someone very close to him which he does not like. Mac asks them to move away. Kevin begins to feel very cold, he is not sure if it is the little boy or not affect him like this, but he is absolutely freezing now. The team hears what sounds like whispering, they ask for it to be repeated. Mac calls out to Benjamin, asking if it is him that is making the place cold.
In conclusion to this vigil, Team 2 experienced many noises that were heard, whispering, whistling, seeing lights, shadows and light anomalies. Many of them felt a cold air on their faces as well as being touched. Hence the reason for joining Team 1 at the end of the nights investigation.

Just before they leave the area, the group are talking among themselves and the tape picks someone else saying something. It is difficult to distinguish exactly what is said, but is sounds similar to "Grey Hair" EVP 3
Team 3 - Top Floor
As they enter the main classroom Nikki asks Pia if she is picking up anything as they walk around. Pia calls out and as she does a voice is heard on the tape which sounds like "YES" EVP1 team 3.
Pia begins to calls out and a noise is heard by the team. Nikki says something very cold as come up to her, voices can also be heard and a faint whistle. On one of the smaller rooms off the main classroom more noises are heard and Pia suggest that the team move towards the room. Barbara says there is a small child here who is about 6 or 7 years of age, more is told to her, but she is unable to understand it. Pia mentions that there is someone here who worked in the school and they are all really scared of him.
The team asked the little girl to play with the ball that was on the floor and that she wouldn't get in to trouble if she played with it. The names Andrew and Emily or possible it was Amy were picked up. A bang was then heard coming from the window, the team were unsure if this was perhaps the wind or paranormal.
Nikki asked the little girl "Did she liked the school? What did she learn here and if she could make another noise for them", but unfortunately nothing was heard.
In the main classroom area the group formed a circle around the ouija board, Pia blessed the board before they began and she then started calling out for any spirit to come forward and move the glass. The glass then moved to W and then D.

The team hear a noise and ask "Was that you making that noise?" The glass still does not move. Once again they get the name Amy and Pia asks "Are you connected with the school?" There is also a feeling of a teacher moving forward towards them. There is no further movement from the glass and it was decided to close the board and move on.
Another noise is heard coming from the window, they go and check it and found that the window did not move, it was not loose at all and did not rattle when touched. Pia picks up on the children that would have been here, some of team then saw shadows around and this began to scare them. Pia continues by saying there is a lady present, she had a heart of gold, but did not show it. She confirmed that the lady worked her and paid a lot of attention to detail, everything she did, she did it well. This lady also had something to do with food and she was getting a name beginning with MA, and was not sure if it was the name Margaret.
One of the other members of the group was connecting with a girl who was from the 1920's, this girl had hurt her hand here. The group then hear a lot of noise from what appears to be downstairs, but where unsure if members of the other team were moving around. Pia now senses the presences of a boy who is not well and not suppose to be here. He is aged around 10 or 11 years and is very poor. He would have been here around 1886. Nikki asks if he is grounded here and then a noise is heard. They call out to the boy and ask "If he could touch one of them"
Pia tries the dowsing rods to communicate with him. She asks "Are you a boy?" The rods cross to indicate "Yes"

Pia picks up on another boy in this area, he has blond hair and his name is Steven. He too is not very well and he wasn't wanted here. Once again they hear the window bang and seek to find out what is causing it. The window is checked for movement, but it remained solid and there was no wind to cause it to bang.
The time was now up and the team then moved on to the next vigil.
Team 3 - The Basement
Once the team settle in this area, Pia calls out to any spirit present to make a noise. Nothing was heard so Pia uses the dowsing rods to see if she can communicate with anyone.
"Are there any spirit people here?" "Yes"
"Are there more than one spirit here with us?" "Yes"

"Are you female?" "Yes"
"Are you the woman who we felt on the top floor?" "Yes"

The feeling within the team then changed.

Pia felt it was very positive here and the team decided to leave Mary and move on. As this happened Nikki said her batteries in her torch had gone dead and they were new at the beginning of the night. They now try a "talking board", this is simply a board that has "No" or "Yes" on it. Despite asking numerous question they found that they were getting no response. Pia felt that they were hiding as there was a feeling that someone else had come into the basement.
The team move into the tea room area. Pia gets a message saying "What are you doing here?" She says there is something stopping them from communicating with us. She continues by saying "That they like it here and are worried that we are going to try and send them on." Pia hears a noise from behind her, she asks "Is this some of the children?" They request that who ever is present to communicate via tapping. One tap for "yes" and two taps for "no".
"Are you happy here?" "One tap - Yes"
"Are there many children still here?" "One tap - Yes"
"Is it OK for us to talk to you? "One tap - Yes"
Following this, no further communications were made and the team ended their vigil of this area.
Team 3 - Ground Floor
As they enter the first of the rooms on this floor Pia feels that there is someone here, but she is unable to connect. The room turns very cold and the group has a feeling of being watched. Pia says that she now has a lady with her. It may be the lady from before, she was not certain at the moment. The lady is very caring towards the children and is dressed in Victorian clothing, she can see the long dark dress she is wearing. Pia continues by saying this lady wanted to do much more then she could and she was a sister.
This lady would sit where she could look out of the place, there was also a little boy about 7 years old, she was looking after him as he couldn't talk properly. The lady would have been in her fifty's and she played a major part in how the school was run.
Pia also picks up on another boy with a speech problem. He is a little tubby and there is something different about him. She believes it's the boy they had picked up on before who's name was Andrew. The group decide to do the ouija board, but after calling out several time, they get no response. They move on to another room and decide to use the dowsing rods.
Pia picks up on a spirit and she begins to feel very tearful, she has the feeling that someone was experimenting with the children and it was very painful, this was confirmed by the spirit present.
"Not everyone knew what you were doing" The rods went apart indicating "No"
"Are you sorry for what you have done?" "No"
"Is it you stopping them coming forward?" "Yes"
"Is your name William?" "Yes"
"Were you a doctor?" "No"
"Were you a dentist?" "Yes"

"But you didn't really help them?" "No"
Pia then picks up on a man with grey hair, he would have had darker hair when he was younger and he also wore glasses. He was fully qualified. The smell of alcohol was then smelt by some of the group and Barbara tells everyone that she is beginning to feel very angry and also someone didn't want us here. Alice tries using the dowsing rods, she is getting a pain in one of her legs and want to know if it is something she is picking up. The rods cross indicating "Yes"
"Did you get this injury at the school?" "No"
"Are you a child?" "No"
"Are you a male?" "Yes"
"Can you take the pain away from me?" "Yes"
The group decided to try again with the ouija board, but although the glass moves, it is selected random letters. They are not sure if someone perhaps is mucking around with them and as they are not getting anything constructive they decide to finished the vigil on this floor.
Team 3 - 1st Floor
The team begins with the ouija board and Pia calling out for any spirits presence to move the glass. The glass starts to move and spells out B C O. This means nothing to the group. (One of the problems with using the ouija board is the random letters that spirits often use. This makes it difficult to figure out and thereby not always reliable. Using the ouija board can give some great messages, but also it can provide a load of gibberish)
The glass moves again to R A O U. Again this doesn't make a lot of sense. The team ask the spirit "Is this your name?", but do not get a response. Nothing more comes through other than "goodbye". Nikki's batteries are fading, this was the second time she had problems during the investigation of the night.
The group then move to another room on the floor. Pia calls out to the spirits, she asks them to move the ball that has been placed there as a trigger object. A noise is then heard and they ask for it to be repeared, but nothing else is heard. Some members of the team then hear what sounds like footsteps. The team concluded that there was a lot of energy, but they were unable to get any activity. They spent a full hour and a quarter investigation the entire floor, but were unlucky to gain much.
All Teams - The Basement
Due to the activities experienced when Team 1 and Team 2 investigated the basement earlier, it was decided that all 3 teams would do a vigil in this area and try to discover what was possibly causing the disturbing events. Everyone sat in a huge circle with Sue in the middle doing the filming.
Jim asked Kevin to take the lead and as he was calling out shadows were seen by many of the group. It was not long before a spirit approached Jim, he is quite happy for any spirit to channel through him, and therefore allowed this particular entity to communicate through him. He started to struggle and push Jane, who was on his left and Mac, who was on his right. They were having extreme difficulty in hold him back. They also noticed that he was appearing to growl and some members of the circle said that they couldn't see him. They could see Jane and Mac next to him, but were he was sitting was nothing but darkness.
There is a lot of anger coming from Jim, he continues to push on either side of him and tries desperately to break the circle. He is seen to spit and at one point lashed out at Jane by attempting to bite her arm. Mac asks "Who is this?" She get no reply other then growling and what appeared to be a bark coming from him. Kevin also ask the same question, but only strange noises where given as a reply.
Barbara breaks from the circle and approaches Jim in an attempt to remove the negative energy that is resonating through him, unfortunately her effort have made very little effect and Kevin calls out to Jim to come forward and use his guides to bring him out of this. Slowly but surely Jim pulls through and releases the entity out of him. He is shaken from the experience, but relays that he is OK. It then appears that the spirit tries to connect with Kevin, but he keeps him at bay and does not allow him in.
The vigil then comes to a close after a prayer of protection. Everyone in the large group is fine and returns to the canteen area to pack up for the night.
What occurred in the basement at the end of night is a very rare event. To happen upon this sort of negativity is very unusual and not something you would normally come across. Unfortunately it was very difficult to ascertain what it was or indeed where it had come from. After researching following the investigation there was some comfort in knowing that dark shadows had previously been seen by other paranormal groups that have investigated this location.
It must also be pointed out that both Jim and Kevin are very experienced mediums, and are used to dealing with channelling. This is not something that would happen to anyone who does not have the capabilities.
South West London Paranormal had a great investigation at The Ragged School and are pleased with the material they got. The mediums present picked up on many different spirits with most of it being confirmed by our host Richard whom they would like to thank for his time and hospitility. A great discovery was a poster found with details of a Mary Kingsley - this being the Mary that Pia had picked up on earlier.
Jim went through all of the recordings from all 3 teams and has relaid the main points from them. There were a lot of noises, sounds of voices, footsteps that were heard from the teams. However, in this sort of building it could have easily been one of the other teams on the floors above or below, or old wooden floor boards that creaked, and not forgetting the cold of the night. Which ever at this time many of the sights and sounds can not be explained - that's the things about the paranormal.
