These two recordings are from the locked of recorder we had in room 203. Both of them sound like someone moving around, but we would like to point out this room was at the top of the building, no one was anywhere near it until we entered it to carry out a vigil. Please leave your views in the forum.
Photographs
The photos below are just showing you a little of Bolebroke Castle. There are a few photo's which contain orbs, however these are only dust orbs. There is one photo that may be a spirit orb. A part from that, we are unable to see any further evidence of paranormal in the photos, but we are still awaiting for a few more photographs to be analysed.
The Report
There is nothing like approaching a historic building such as Bolebroke Castle on a wintery evening, it stands tall and proud and cries out the history that has befallen it. This imposing dwelling which dates back to the 15th Century had high expectation. During the day it attracts visitors, as it was once the hunting lodge and courting house of King Henry VIII. On this occasion it was the venue for South West London Paranormal team to conduct a Halloween Special investigation. Would the team encounter the spirits of this castle? Below is a detailed report of the investigation.

Team 1 – The Great Hall
The teams first vigil was in the Great Hall as they gathered round Jim can feel someone nearby and the group feel that there is someone around them as well. They could see shadows and heard noises, but nothing that could be substantial proof of it being down to paranormal activity for sure.
There was also a feeling of someone sitting at the side of the fireplace as if in anticipation of stoking it. Jim sees someone standing near the guest of the group. He can also feel a large hunting dog in the room moving around. There appears to be many spirits within the room and he adds that the room layout is all wrong – the tables should be the other way, they should be running the length of the room.
The team decide to use the Ouija board to try and communicate with the spirits present that they could feel. Jim opens the board and begins to call out. After a short time the glass moves across the board in response.
Question: “Are you a female?” Answer: “Yes”
Jim asks the female spirit if she could move the glass towards the person she would like to connect with. The glass moves to Eloise.
Question: “Do you know Eloise?” Answer: “No”
Question: “Do you want to talk to Eloise?” Answer: “No”
Question: “What year did you pass to spirit?” Answer: “1334”
Question: “Please confirm you crossed over in the year 1334?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you give us the first letter of your first name?” Answer: “P”
Question: “What is the next letter?” Answer: “E”
Question: “What is the next letter?” Answer: “L”
Jim kept asking for the next letter, but the glass was randoming selecting letters, which did not make sense.
Question: “Have you used the board before?” Answer: “No”
Question: “Are you connected to someone in the room?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Please can you move the glass to that person?” The glass moves again to Eloise.
After a few more questions Jim decides that whoever the spirit is they are just mucking about. Another spirit does come through, but unfortunately the glass just moves around the board continuously without giving clear answers.
Jim connects with a male spirit who had died in the grounds, he was killed with an arrow and was unsure if this was an accident or not. He had the feeling this man would have gone hunting within this area. It was at this point that the guest member went down into the very small cellar with one of the other team members; they experienced a shadow pass in front of them. The group then took it in turns to go into the cellar, but no activity was encountered.
Jim asks one of the team to use the Dowsing Rods, explaining that after asking a question if the rods cross this indicate the answer “Yes” and if they move apart this indicates “No”
He calls out and the rods cross straight away.
Question: “Did you live here?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Are you connected with this building?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you point the rods to where you are?” They move towards Jim
Question: “Are you happy here?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Is the child here with you?” Answer: “Yes”
All further questions and the response of the rods appeared to be going nowhere, so they decide to end this first vigil at this point.
Team 1 – Middle Floor
Along the hallway the EMF meter started to registered high readings particular outside one of the doors. Upon opening this door it was found to be a shower room, but there was no electrical cables or switches near the door. The noise stopped once it was moved away and started again when the EMF meter came near the door. It was noticed that the noise was emanating at child height and Jim picked up on a child standing there watching us.
In all the years of using an EMF meter this had never happened. All of a sudden it was gone from this area, but then found that it was following the group. They did check to see that the noise was not being generated from one of the team. They were unable to find out whom or what was causing this and did believe it was a child.
The team then began to investigate some of the bedroom along the hallway. In one of the rooms Eloise thought there was someone else in the room with them and Emma moves forward, unsure if she was pushed or not. Jim felt the door was being moved, but no other activity was found.
In Room 104 the team called out continuously, but again received no feedback and therefore moved on to Room 103. Here Jim called out and knocked asking for it to be repeated. Some of group believed they did hear a reply, but when asked again to repeat the knocking, no further noise was heard. There was a small built in wardrobe that nobody seemed to like. There was a negative feeling around the door and on the inside. Mac shut herself in for a few minutes, but nothing happened.
Jim is sure that there is someone in the room with them and starts to channel through to them when they begin a séance. Mac talks to Jim and gets the name “Jack”.
“How old are you?” The answer came back with “11”
Jim then points to Eloise and Mac asks him “Why are you pointing at her?” And he replies “Her hair is funny”. Eloise has bright red hair and cut into a modern style.
Team 1 – Room 203
The team entered, what is reputed to be the most active room in the building. Jim calls out for any spirits to come forward and knocks asking if this could be copied. A return knock is heard by the group, but was not picked up on the recorder. Mac thinks she can see something moving and Jim hears what sounds like someone walking around with a long dress on and it is dragging on the ground. He also sees a man standing in the doorway – he is very tall and is looking down on everybody. Mac can also sense the man and his attitude emits that he is better than us; she also feels that he raped someone in this room.
Jim suggests that they conduct a séance and calls out, before long Jim starts to channel a spirit. Mac can see shadows dancing around the room and asks “What is your name?” and the spirit replies through Jim “Why?”
Question: “Because we would like to know”
Question: “What did you do in this room?” Answer: “Use your imagination”
Question: “Why can’t you tell us, are you ashamed of what you did here?”
Question: “Did you live here?” Answer: “No, one did not live here”
Question: “Did you work here?” Answer: “Good heavens you stupid woman, of course I didn’t work here”
Question: “So what did you do here then?” Answer: “I was part of the advanced party for the King”
Question: “What year was that?” Answer: “Questions, questions”
Question: “So what is your name?” Answer: “Peter”
Question: “Hello Peter, I’m Mac. So what about this room?” Answer: “She will tell you”
At this point Jim comes back from his trance. The team expressed the fact that they felt intimidated by the presence of this man and Eloise didn’t want to look at him. Both Lyn and Emma didn’t like this room at all. Jim then told everyone that he could see a corn dolly.
Team 1 – Room 204
As they enter this room Jim gets the name Katie and he can hear someone calling out, but no other team members can hear it. They also hear was sounds like a car, but this location is in the middle of nowhere. Mac and one of the guests do not like the cupboard in the room, they feel as if there is someone poking their head around the door and looking at them.
Eloise can see someone next to Mac and can smell something sweet and the smell of chicken. She also feels that someone had been killed within this room and Jim agreed that there was a very negative feeling.
Despite all of these feelings there was very little activity and the team decide to move on to another room. Many of the rooms are actually too small to fit the whole group in. The team go from room to room and within the corridor searching for possible activity. As they pass the stairs Jim hears a breath, Mac calls out for the spirit to come forward and repeat what they had done, but nothing further is heard.
Some of team enter a room when Mac suddenly came rushing in. She had seen someone, who was not another member of group, at the other end of the corridor. This spirit had taken up the whole of the corridor and Jim agrees. Jim said “He knows it sounds crazy, but he knows who this looks like” and Emma said “Henry VIII” and Jim nodded with agreement. “It is either him or a very good look alike”. He asks if anyone else can see him. Mac can see that he is literally owning the corridor and completely blocking it. Jim approaches the end of the corridor and begins to feel very cold and they find themselves back outside Room 203. Lyn wants to leave and she doesn’t feel comfortable at all.
They all decide to return back into Room 203 and begin with using the Ouija board. Jim begins to call out and after a while the glass moves. The team hear tapping sounds and thought perhaps it may have been the water pipes, but the heating was not on. Jim and Emma both experience stabbing pains and Jim asks the spirits to move the glass to Yes if they want them to leave, but nothing further happens.
Eloise suggests that they try the hallway, which Jim agrees with. They begin a séance and feel someone around them and they also see shadows. A noise is heard by some of the team, which they could not explain. Very little else happens and the team decided to end the vigil.

Team 2 – Box Room
This room was tiny and it was very difficult to fit the whole team in. Some sat on the single bed whilst the remaining members cramped in the remaining space. Whether it was because it was so small and uncomfortable or just lack of activity, the room provide very little response to calling out that was given. Nikki heard a thud, but no other members heard it. It was extremely difficult to conduct a vigil in the room and after spending approximately 10-15 minutes they decided to end the vigil.

Helen using the dowsing rods calls out to any spirits and after a while they pick up on a gentleman who they feel they have come across already this evening. Question: “Would you talk to us if we use the Ouija board?” Answer: “Yes”
Question: “Can you point to where you are?”
Noises are once again heard as they begin to use the board. Despite calling out several times, the glass does not move at all. Most of the team really don’t want to be in this room; they really don’t like it and feel uneasy. Helen suggests that they try the dowsing rods again.

Team 2 – Great Hall
Time: 23.23
The team enter into the Great Hall and settle down to begin the vigil. All of the large table had been placed at the far end of the hall, so it only left half a room to investigation, which included the big fire place.
Jane can see shadows within the room and both she and Helen feel that someone is sitting by the side of the fire watching them. They decide to use the dowsing rods to communicate with any spirits that maybe within the room. After a short time the rods move in response to them calling out.

Once again the glass kept moving all over the place and they felt as though they were getting nowhere with the board and perhaps someone was mucking about with them.
Team 2 – Room 100
They settle down and get a feel for the room. They call out for any spirit to come through and decide to use the dowsing rods to communicate. There was a distinctive feeling that due to any males being present within this team that it could be contribution to the lack of communication with the spirits.
Helen senses a male spirit within the room and asks
“If they wanted the group to leave?” The rods cross indicating “Yes”
Question: “Is it because we are all women here?” Answer: “Yes”
Helen asks “Is it you who keeps pulling me back?” Answer: “Yes”
Nikki is holding the EMF meter and is pointed at the wooden door when she gets a reading of 1 and then up to 2. Jane checks around for any possible electrical cables and finds nothing that would generate the EMF meter to do this.
A noise is heard by some members of the team. It was picked up on the digital tape, but it could have been anything, as it sounded like a bump. It was feeling much colder within the room despite the amount of people in the room. They continued to call out, but nothing further occurred.
Team 2 – Room 103

The called out several times, but did not receive any response. Varies noises were heard, among the noises was what appeared to be someone moving in the hall way, a banging noise and howling. Tapping is also heard, but unfortunately not picked up clearly enough on the digital recorder.
Team 2 – Box Room

Nikki heard a thud, but no other members heard it. It was extremely difficult to conduct a vigil in the room and after spending approximately 10-15 minutes they decided to end the vigil.
Team 1 and 2 – 1st Floor
As the night was coming to a close it was decided that the two teams join together and revisit the 1st floor again with the main purpose to help the spirits of Charles and Emma to cross over.
The group enter into room 202 and form a circle. Jim calls out for the two spirits to come forward, before too long they appear before Jim, with the Uncle close by. Jim found that he was ashamed and sorry and didn’t want Charles and Emma to go. The uncle began to affect Jim and he started to become upset, but then quickly changed his tone and told the group to leave. They responded that they were not frightened of him and he replied “If you knew me, you would be.”
Jane calls out for Charles and Emma to step into the circle, through Jim the uncle tells her to stop and go. This is ignored and the circle gains the confidence of the two spirits, however the uncle is trying to stop them and some members of the team feel movement around them. The spirit within Jim begins to affect him further and tears start rolling down his cheeks, the affect is very strong, so much so that Jim forces the spirit back and stops the circle.
They begin the séance again and Jim decided it’s time they crossed the children over. Jane takes the lead and calls them forward. Jim starts to channel the uncle again and Helen asks “Why don’t you go with them?” It’s hard work, but Jim wins through and they succeed in crossing over the children.
Jim informs the group that the uncle had done things to young Charles that he was ashamed of. He was scared of losing him and of being alone and would not go. The team are ready to move on when they notice that Jim has gone back into a trance again with the uncle returning. He is very emotional and there is a feeling of him being very scared. Jim is shaking and crying, the uncle is missing Charles and really want to cross over. Jane once again takes the lead in calling out and after some time, Jim returns, but it exhausted by his experience.
Team 1 and 2 – Room 203
Jim starts another séance and calls out. A very abrupt man comes forward who is not amused with Nikki. Jim can sense someone in the corridor and footsteps are heard moving up and down. The man says “What do you want?”
Nikki asks “Why don’t you cross over?” He replied “Why do you want to know?”
Question: “What did you do to the woman in here?” Answer: “That’s my business”.
Strange noises are heard, but not clear enough to be classed as an EVP.
Question: “Are you Sir John?” Answer: “Yes” Jim says he will answer Helen as she is not as common as the others.
Question: “Did you take the women here against their will?” Answer: “Well dear, how can I put it, they should have thought themselves honoured”.
It then appears that he starts to push some of the team as they feel this happened. Jim adds that he is a well dressed and very well-to-do.
At this point nothing further occurs and they decide to close the night’s investigation.

CONCLUSION
I had been looking forward to the trip to Bolebroke Castle. I enjoyed the night, but was a little disappointed as the activity was very quiet and no real evidence of anything paranormal. That’s how it goes and I don’t think it was value for money. It was almost double the money, because of Halloween. Would I return here; No I don’t think so.
During the night we did get some names as you have read above in the report. At the start of the investigation I placed a recorder in Room 203 and left it there all night. There was no one else in the hotel and it was at the top of the building. There were some strange sounds which liken to someone moving around within the room.
The highlight of the night was that both teams did get reading on the EMF meter which could not be explained. With high reading you would look for some form of energy to set it off, such as light switches etc..., however these reading were coming from the door or doorway where there was nothing electrical around. The high readings also moved with the team, they made sure they had no electrical equipment on them and found it would stop and start in the middle of nothing. We gave up on the cause and could not find any reason to get these readings.
I would also like to point out that there were strange noises and different sound that could not be explained. We could not say they were paranormal, old building move a lot in the cold which could explain some of them, however I would also like to say that once the investigation was completed I looked at other paranormal groups report and many of them also experience much the same as we did. So does that mean we were all imagining the same things? Many of the groups also came up with the same names. I believe that Bolebroke Castle holds many secrets.

Personal Accounts and Statements
Below are some statements and thoughts from the team members who attending Bolebroke Castle paranormal investigation.
Jim
It was a fantastic looking venue, full of history and much paranormal activity had been reported here so I had really been looking forward to this investigation.
Due to it being Halloween the price was almost double here, but we didn’t care. However I have to be honest, I was disappointed it was not worth the price, and it’s not a place I would rush back too.
I have been on many investigations over the years, so I know what it is like to end up with very little going on. I never read up on a place until after I have been there, and from what I have seen we had much the same. Still it was a nice place, and we did get some activity.
I picked up on some spirits as the report will show and we got some EVP’s.
Mac
What a fantastic venue, loved the history and the location which made an excellent venue for our Halloween investigation and of course the home of Henry VIII.
The Ghost Train which took us around the grounds was very funny even with the staff trying to scare us by dressing up to look the part.
We had some new people who came along and were very happy to take part in our group along with Jim Arnold our Medium for the night. Our first location was the main hall with one of the UK’s largest fireplace; this room would have been the main entertainment room for Banquets. Even through not a lot was picked up in this room other then feeling shadows moving around almost like people dancing and Jim picked up on a gentleman called Alexander.
We also went up to the 1st floor and one of the rooms we picked up on a child spirit who we think died there and his mother wiping his forehead from a fever or something.
Then we went up to the 2nd floor and room 203 which apparently is supposed to be one of the main activity rooms for haunting’s. This room no one within our group felt happy being there and we picked up on a really large man and felt he was looking down on us and made us feel very uncomfortable. A number of noises where heard in the hall way as if someone was walking up and down the corridor. When we went to another room we felt he was watching up in the hall way.
Well, just to wrap it up, excellent night, excellent people and fantastic venue. Well done Jim and Jane for picking this venue and look forward to our next one.
Pauline
Hi everyone enjoyed last night, amazed about how much info I got. Following info for Jim, our group led by Helen started on the top floor, we didn't get much in the first room, there was someone there but did not want to communicate; I thought I could hear talking in the bathroom. We went to the next room, it was very cold kept getting rushes of cold air, I picked up on a young boy called Charles which the rods confirmed and that he was about 10 which the rods also confirmed, Helen picked up on the fact that he was smothered which the rods confirmed, she also picked up on a young girl called Emma, I think I asked if she had drowned, which I don't think was confirmed.
However this was still in my mind today so I looked up children that had died at Bolebroke, and found some history through Kent Paranormal that yes a young girl called Emma had drowned in the Lake! It did not mention the brother’s name, however it did mention that she was scared by a Prince John who was regent of Britain and was a good Horseman, Helen and Jane had picked up a Sir John who was a good horseman and thought he was someone to bow down to. I think we picked him up in the room next to the Kings room to start with and then he seemed to follow us, in the room next to the Kings room we heard people talking but thought it was the residents as we knew the Kings room was occupied, I held the rods and kept feeling that I was being pulled back, Nicky had a go and felt the same sensation.
Downstairs in the great Hall, Helen picked up lots of spirits at least 20, Sasha and Nicky felt sick, Helen picked up a little girl called Ellie, I think this is when we went on the board she was 5 years old and a boy called James who I think was 7. I thought there was someone called Mary but this was not confirmed.
In the tea room Helen picked up on a spirit she was very weak the rods were very slow again I thought this was Mary and this was confirmed Helen thought there was also someone else that was there that worked with Mary it was confirmed by the rods it was also confirmed that they wanted to cross over. Homework done will look at photos tomorrow.
Nikki
Had a great night at Bolebroke Castle lovely location and fully of history smaller than I was expecting, but still enjoyed. I found Bolebroke Castle not as active as some locations that I have been to, but the team that I was in did a really great job on picking up on a number of things, like two children called Charles and Emma and an uncle to Charles which we later learnt through a séance that he had been responsible for Charles's death...this was very emotional but happy to say both children did eventually cross over as did 2 ladies in the tea room, we managed to get a name for one of the ladies (Mary) who worked in the kitchen during king Henry V111 reign.
We had more responses using the rods rather than actual contact or sounds. We did have a spirit or two following us from room to room, Helen and Jayne picked up on a Sir John and through the rods able to find out he hunted with the King....Jim our medium was able to confirm this during a séance. We did not manage to communicate with the other spirits which Helen, Jayne and Pauline picked up on but felt that they were gentlemen. Well done everyone.
Jane
I had high expectations of this venue . On arrival the building from the outside look amazing. Inside was very different. On the top floor the 1st room we didn’t really get anything so we moved on. In the next room we picked up on 3 spirits called Emma, Charles and Uncle Charles. Uncle Charles followed us not really wanting to communicate because we were woman. In the last room Uncle Charles was a bit more talkative letting us know that he was part of Henry VIII courtiers.
Downstairs we were told that there were more than 20 spirits in with us in the great hall. Then we moved on to the tea room. We came in contact with a weak spirit called Mary then a friend of hers who both wanted to be moved to the light so as soon as the rest of the group came down we sent to the light.
On the middle floor it was hard to communicate as the spirit were men and didn’t really want to talk to us. In the last room we heard banging and Sue thought she heard drumming. We then regrouped and Jim sent Emma, Charles and Uncle Charles to the light. It was a disappointing venue, but a big well done to our team leader Helen and the rest of the team.
Helen
The castle is beautiful and had a lot to offer us, but sadly the spirits weren't in the mood for a chat! Good night though very interesting, worth another visit maybe? Wouldn't bother with ghost train again! No offence to the guys who were trying to be ghosts!
Lyn
I thought the building from the outside was fantastic. A little disappointed with the lack of activity inside. On the whole a very enjoyable night just needed more entertainment from the spirits, but you can’t win them all. I only felt one thing in one of the bedrooms I had a feeling of water or drowning or being dowsed in water.
Emma
I did love Bolebroke what a stunning place, and I think your group got a lot more than the other group. When we were in the room at the top, I have never felt so scared in my life, but loved it at the same time. I do think you are right about it, could have been a better for the price, but never know what going to happen .Would I go again - no.
Zoe
The venue I think was lovely on the outside but quite let down on the inside. Felt a little disappointed as my group didn’t pick up on much really. I had a great night but I do agree with you could of been better for the money we all paid.
Sue
The building was a formidable site when we first saw a glimpse of it as we approached down the long bumping drive. The original lead cast window beamed out as the lights from the inside lit them. The house looked impressive and initial excitement on the prospect of what may lie ahead.
The ghost train provided at an additional charge was huge fun. The miniature train meandered around the lake through the wooded area surrounding it. Entertainment was provided by the staff as they hid in the woods, echoing effects of haunting noises and cries. We waited in anticipation as they jumped out from behind tree and out buildings to scare the living daylights out of the people seated precariously on this tiny train.
The inside of the building mirage the outside and it was cold. I did find the Great Hall a little disappointing, both in size and activity. Perhaps, I image it to be more on the grand scale then it was, considering it boosts the second largest fireplace in England. The top floor had the most supposed activity and we did experience unexplained footsteps and a daunting atmosphere in a few of the rooms. It was however, a major disappointment not to be able to investigate the King’s Bedroom; this could have supplied some extra activity.
Overall the night’s investigation was good, perhaps lacking in any major “goings-on”. Would I return? I would give it another go, as I believe it had the potential to produce more than it was willing to let out this time round. In addition, I would love to enter the huge building to the right of the entrance – that to me really looked like the Grand Hall.
Jim

The castle is beautiful and had a lot to offer us, but sadly the spirits weren't in the mood for a chat! Good night though very interesting, worth another visit maybe? Wouldn't bother with ghost train again! No offence to the guys who were trying to be ghosts!

I did love Bolebroke what a stunning place, and I think your group got a lot more than the other group. When we were in the room at the top, I have never felt so scared in my life, but loved it at the same time. I do think you are right about it, could have been a better for the price, but never know what going to happen .Would I go again - no.

The venue I think was lovely on the outside but quite let down on the inside. Felt a little disappointed as my group didn’t pick up on much really. I had a great night but I do agree with you could of been better for the money we all paid.
